Since July 2022, Trina Benson has been serving as the Race, Equity, and Inclusion (REI) Coordinator for the Ashtabula and Trumbull Juvenile Courts. Through a contract with Cadence Care, Trina is working with the courts to address racial disparities that exist in the juvenile court system.

She has provided training for court staff in the areas of Implicit Bias, Cultural Humility, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGIE) and Family Engagement. Further training specific to REI-related topics will be offered to court staff and community members.

Trina is also working to build community awareness and strengthen community collaborations.

Trina has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Phoenix. She is currently enrolled in the Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) program.
